Regrowing of Hair With Homeopathy

Regrowth Hair With Homeopathy

Hair Care With Homeopathy

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT HAIR
Each and everyone of us is born with a certain number of hair follicles on our scalp. This is pre-determined by our genes. Also the density of the hair on our scalp varies with the colour and texture. For example Blonde hair has an average of 140,000 hairs whereas dark-haired people like us Indians have 110,000 on an average. Each hair grows from a hair follicle which are found in the inner skin. Our hair has three distinct layers, the cuticle, cortex, which is composed of keratinized cells and the medulla.
MYTH NO. 1- Contrary to what people believe every hair follicle has its own oil gland and sweat gland. This oil gland removes the unwanted waste products from the scalp. By putting excess oil externally you are in fact blocking the hairs own oil gland and all the waste matter remains collected in the scalp. Therefore doing more harm than good.
MYTH NO. 2- people think that if they dont wash their hair often it wont fall. They will wash their hair once a week only. But what they dont realize is that this creates more problems. The sweat gland in your hair follicle secretes substances which dry on your scalp. The secretion can contain water, salts, acids, and even bacteria. If this is not regularly removed from the scalp by washing then it can lead to severe itching and DANDRUFF.
MYTH NO. 3- the patient is frightened even if a few strands of hair fall. What they dont know is that each hair has its own life of 1 to 6 years. When hair falls of from its follicle normally a new one is already regrowing from that same follicle.
MYTH NO. 4- if you think by applying various different types of oils, external treatments, different concoctions your hair loss will be cured then you are under the wrong impression. This is because the growth of hair is from within the body and dependent mainly on blood circulation. It provides nourishment to the hair and removes the unwanted waste products.
Like the skin and nails, hair is chemically a protein material and there are on average 120,000 hair producing follicles on our scalp. The normal hair growth rate is 1 to 1.5 cms (1/2 to 3/4 inches) monthly, and is slightly faster in women.

Hair has three main physical layers; the outer cuticle; the cortex, comprising the bulk of the whole structure; and a middle core, the medulla. The cuticle and cortex are affected by physical and chemical change and can undergo temporary or permanent alteration.

Hair loss due to Breakage

Hair becomes dry and brittle when there is a loss of moisture from the fibres within the hair, which usually leads to the hair splitting and breaking.

The causes of dry hair are many and varied. Too little natural oil from the skin, central heating, heated rollers, poor quality hair products, sunbathing, swimming, perming, straightening, colouring and the

over-use of blow dryers. All of these result in the hair becoming dull, dry and likely to break.

It is essential to remember that a change in hair structure will make the hair more vunerable to the daily wear and tear of styling. More than usual care will be needed when shampooing and drying hair which has been subjected to the processes mentioned.

Here are a few simple rules for improving the condition of dry hair and preventing any further damage: -

Have any chemical processes carried out by your hairdresser: home perming and colouring can end in disaster.

Always use a conditioner after washing: concentrate on the ends of the hair as this is where it will be needed most.

A wide-toothed comb or a well-designed brush made from natural bristle is less likely to damage the hair.

Keep hair spray to a minimum, as it is very drying.

Have your hair trimmed regularly, even if you are growing it long.

When brushing or combing the hair, do not apply too much tension and avoid brushing or combing the hair when it is wet as this can cause damage. In spite of many claims, there is no remedial benefit to be gained from brushing the hair and scalp regularly. On the contrary, this could adversely affect many scalp conditions and situations of hair loss.

Braiding the hair and hairstyles which involve tight pulling of the hair, can cause traction alopecia. The area most commonly affected is around the hairline. This type of hair loss is temporary if the traction is short term but becomes permanent with prolonged trauma.

Hair is one of the most vital aspects of our appearance, affecting the way we look and feel, and requires serious attention every day.

A great many things in life affect our hair, so it is not surprising that problems are common.

Hair loss can cause great distress and effects most of us at some stage in our lives. It can be caused by genetic and non genetic factors, such as hormone imbalances, diabetes, thyroid abnormalities, bacterial infections, anaemia, stress, pregnancy, poor nutrition, fever, chemical damage, use of poor quality hair products, certain hairstyles and using hair styling equipment, e.g. blow dryers and curling tongs.

Common types of hair loss are:

Androgenetic Alopecia (Pattern Hair Loss)
This form of hair loss, which affects women as well as men, is very common. It is an inherited condition and is triggered by androgens (male hormones). The scalp gradually becomes more visible, as hairs become finer and don't grow as long as they used to. Treatment can effectively slow down the rate of hair loss if the condition is treated early, however, for some the best solution is hair root transplantation.

Alopecia Areata (Hair Loss in Patches)
This is a hair loss problem, which is often associated with stress.
The symptoms are a sudden increase in hair fall, patches of baldness which are smooth to the touch and which may be singular or multiple in numbers with short broken hairs around the patches.

Although this disorder can be very alarming, the patches rarely spread to total hair loss (alopecia totalis) and treatment for this problem can be very effective. Treatments are available which speed up the rate at which the new hairs grow back. But perhaps the most effective form of treatment is the use of ultra-violet light therapy. This is used extensively at The Clinic of Trichology with a very high success rate.

Postpartum Alopecia (Loss of hair after childbirth)
Approximately 40% of all women experience hair loss after giving birth. This is due to a delay in normal shedding during pregnancy. The hair becomes thicker during pregnancy and excessive shedding is noticed as the hair returns to its normal state afterwards.

Stress Related Hair loss
Normally we shed up to 100 hairs a day. Usually these hairs are replaced and the scalp is covered. Unfortunately, stress can sometimes interfere with hair growth and cause excessive shedding. There are ways to stop this type of hair loss. Depending on the length and severity of the stress, sometimes a simple step like taking B vitamins will help, but more in-depth treatment may be needed. Either way, the cause of the stress should be addressed and panic should be avoided, easy as this is to say, panic in itself can cause stress, which can cause more hairfall.

Once the stress is removed the hair usually grows back within a few months.

Alopecia due to Nutritional origin

Nutritional origin In cases of malnutrition with the resultant protein-calorie deficiency affect, in the initial stages itself, the structure and colour of the hair. Those who suffer form iron deficiency, there is occasionally a diffuse alopecia noted, in spite of them not being frankly anemic. Zinc deficiency, there is alopecia with a few cutaneous changes seen. This kind of a deficiency (of zinc with essential fatty acids ) especially seen in cases where form prolonged parenteral alimentation, results in erythema, scaling of the scalp and eyebrow, bullae, dry and unruly hair with diffuse alopecia. Topical application of safflower oil tends to reverse this process.

Cosmetic alopecia with differences in religion and its customs and with increased awareness of the different styles in fashion and diffrernt hairdressing techniques, there is an increased degree and wide variety of physical stresses that our hair has to go through.

Hair tends to get weak by the various chemical application and there is constant wear and tear occurring due to the different styles experimented on the hair, which break off by friction or tension is known to induce follicular inflammatory changes that may eventually cause scarring.

1) Traumatic, traction or marginal alopecia

2) Brush roller alopecia

3) Hot-comb alopecia

4) Brush or massage alopecia

5) Alopecia secondary to hair weaving

Diffuse alopecia of hormonal origin

1) Oral contraceptives

2) Hypothyroidism

3) Hyperthyroidism

4) Hypoparathyroidism

5) Diabetes mellitus

HAIR LOSS - TAKE CARE OF YOUR ROOTS
Nearly every other day I get a patient who complaints that his/ her hair is falling out. Right from infants to the aged come with this problem. People are so desperate to get rid off the hair loss problem that they will try any and all kinds of treatment. Thanks to this desperation there a number of hoax and fraud treatments available in the market. People are making money out of this disorder and misguiding the patient. Instead of helping the persons condition they worsen it. If you have a Hair Loss problem then read this article carefully and get the correct facts.

COMMON CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS
Heredity - if your father is bald having the typical male pattern baldness then being his son even you have inherited his defective genes. But you can delay baldness by taking care of your hair.
Old age - as your age advances your hair loss increases. The quality of the hair also reduces and is like the kind that new born babies have. That is why old age is often referred to as the Second Childhood.
Alopecia areata - this is a hair loss condition which usually affects the scalp but can also affect other parts of the body like the beard.
Medications - certain drugs have an adverse effect on the growth of hair. Chemotherapy given for cancer causes the hair to fall. A high dose of Vitamin A given for a long period can also have the same effect.
Burns - damages the hair.
Radiation therapy
Any serious illness - like diabetes, thyroid disorders etc. Even an episode of high fever or severe flu can cause hair to fall excessively.
Excessive hair styling and dying - chemicals used for dying, tinting, straightening, bleaching, perming etc.. can cause hair to become damaged and break off .
Traction Alopecia - if you use clips and rubberbands which pull the hair or tie the hair very tight then it can cause damage to the follicles.
Trichotillomania - this is a condition in which the patient suffers from a nervous habit of pulling out the hair without even realizing what she is doing.
Emotional of physical stress- this is another common cause for hair loss. Many women complaint of hair loss during or after pregnancy. Even surgery causes a stress on the entire body and the hair could be affected.
Hygiene - poor hygiene can cause dandruff, scaling, itching, scalp tenderness and finally loss of hair.
Poor nutrition- an inadequate amount and quality of protein or iron in your diet can cause hair loss. Vegetarians need to be especially careful about the quality of protein they are eating. Soyabean is the best protein of a vegetarian diet.
Scalp infection- ringworm infection of the scalp causes changes on the surface of the skin which can lead to hair loss. Once the infection is correctly treated then the hair normally returns.

during pregnancy and also after leaving the contraceptive pill.
Certain chemicals, like those used to purify swimming pools.
Wear and tear of over-grooming.
Bleaching. Repeated bleaching with hydrogen peroxide can cause split ends Perming and dyeing.
Temporary dyes are not as harmful as permanent dyes which can damage the hair shaft. .

Causes-

Childbirth. When a woman is pregnant, her hair continues to grow. The usual 50 to 100 hairs per day are not shed. However, after she delivers her baby, many hairs enter the resting stage of the hair cycle at once. Within two to three months after delivery, these hairs may all fall out together and be seen as large amounts of hair coming out in their brushes and combs.

High fever, severe infection, major surgery, significant life stressor. From four weeks to three months after a person has a high fever, severe infection, major surgery, or significant life stressor such as death in the family, he or she may be shocked to see a lot of hair falling out. This condition usually corrects itself but may require treatment.

Thyroid disease. Both an overactive and under active thyroid can cause hair loss. The hair loss associated with thyroid disease can be reversed with proper treatment.

Inadequate protein in diet. Some vegetarians, people who go on crash diets that exclude protein, and those with severely abnormal

eating habits, may develop protein malnutrition. When this happens, a person's body will help to save protein by shifting growing hairs into the resting phase. Massive hair shedding can occur two to three months later. Hair can then be pulled out by the roots. This condition can be reversed by eating the proper amount of protein.
Medications. Prescription drugs can cause temporary hair shedding in a small percentage of people. Examples of such drugs are blood thinners, some drugs used to treat gout and arthritis, acne, or psoriasis, and some medications for heart problems.
Cancer treatment drugs. Most drugs used in chemotherapy will cause hair cells to stop dividing. Hair shafts become thin and breakoff as they exit the scalp. This can occur one to three weeks after beginning chemotherapy. The patient may lose all of his hair, but this will usually re-grow after treatment ends.

Birth control pills. Women who lose their hair when taking birth control pills usually have an inherited tendency towards hair thinning.

Low serum iron. Iron deficiency sometimes produces hair loss. Low iron can be detected by laboratory tests and corrected with iron pills.
HOMOEOPATHY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR
As I have stated earlier it is very important to treat the cause of hair loss. If the cause is genetic then atleast the onset of baldness can be delayed and the quality of hair improved. Alopecia areata can be effectively tackled with our homoeopathic drugs. In Homoeopathy we treat the patient as a complete person taking all the symptoms into account including the personality of the patient. On the basis of this we prescribe a constitutional remedy which will improve the patients vitality and root out the cause of the hair loss. Along with this it is essential to follow all the tips given above too. Here are a few time tested remedies for hair loss.

OLEANDER
If the cause of hair loss is due to some infection in the scalp then Oleander should be thought of. The patient complaints of a terrible itchy feeling in the scalp especially along the hairline.
The scalp has eruptions in spots which ooze and the secretion is offensive smelling. Though the patient feels better after scratching it causes rawness and soreness of the scalp.
5 pills of Oleander 200 four times a day will give great relief from the itching and cure the eruptions.
FLUORIC ACIDUM
Fluoric acid is one of the most valuable remedies for Alopecia areata. Here the hair falls out in typical patches. The texture of hair is very brittle and dry.
If a child or person develops sudden hair loss after a bout of fever then this drug should be thought of.
All the discharges are very acrid and corrosive just like the acid. Even the sweat is very eroding and acrid which may cause the hair to weaken and fall.
Fluoric acid 200, 5 pills four times a day will bring back the hair to its former state.
If after your pregnancy or delivery you develop an excess amount of hair loss then you might require SEPIA. Some women suffer from severe hair loss during their climatric period along with typical butterfly pigmentation across their cheeks and saddle of the nose. Here Sepia will take care of the symptoms and help her through her menopause.
GRAPHITES
Eczema is one of the leading causes of hair loss especially in children and adolescents. Here the eruptions ooze a typical sticky discharge which is offensive in odour. This discharge causes matting of the hair and makes it brittle. Ultimately this brittle hair falls out leaving bald patches.
There may be premature graying of hair and baldness. Even the hair from the chin falls out leaving patches on the face. Graphites is very effective for thickening and hardness of the skin, nails, glands of the body.
Graphites 200, 5 pills four times a day will cure the eczema and bring back the lost hair.
If there is any such thing as a specific remedy for hair loss then WIESBADEN would be it. This is prescribed when there are no other symptoms available on which to select a remedy from. Can be used to delay the onset of typical inherited male pattern baldness
